Woody and Van Pelt Reaction To Cowboys Beating Giants

Cowboys beat Jets

The Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Giants in the NFL on Thursday evening and the full reaction to the game from ESPN Sport Center was animated to say the least.

Two big teams and lots of action saw the Cowboys win 20-15 in the end. The Cowboys beating Giants this week caused a stir among fans as well as pundits for certain.

Speaking to Sports Centre here was the reaction from Damien Woody and Scott Van Pelt last night in the game report reaction:

“It’s 13 straight wins over the Giants
for Dak Prescott which matches the
second longest streak by any quarterback
against the team since starts were first
tracked in 1950 Bob greasy had his way with the
bills back when the Dolphins were just
fantastic and now Dak is up to 13 over
New York Damen Woody is with us as he is
every Thursday to talk about the game
and I’ve long contended and maybe I’m
biased cuz I’m a Washington guy and I
see it through that lens but the NFC
East has just got more history than any
other division in football every team’s
won Super Bowls there are real rivalries
in every direction and the the hate the
passions kind of equally felt so Dallas
owning this kind of Advantage right now
head-to-head with New York feels great
but far more important for them tonight
they had to get right I don’t know if
they did but they got a win did they
show you anything that makes you feel
better about them yeah I don’t know if
they showed me anything that that makes
me feel comfortable about the Dallas
Cowboys but I will say this having these
quick turn round games on the road is
very it’s daunting like he coach you
always say let’s just get through this
one boys and then you got the reward on
the back side of it so give credit to
the Dallas Cowboys that come off a a you
know a tough loss against the Baltimore
Ravens and go on the road against a
divisional opponent and go out there and
get the win now they get the opportunity
to rest up and then move on with the
rest of the schedule yeah and I that’s
the point’s well taken get through it
first if you can get a win all the
better but look you all the morning
shows up up there at seport that you’re
on you know St a is going to put on that
hat and act a fool if they lose this
game yeah and nothing happens quietly
with Dallas right so this is a game
they’ve got to get especially going to
Pittsburgh then Detroit then you get a
buy and then San Francisco their
Health’s a question mark but I mean this
was this was the kind of thing where if
if the Giants are able to get a
touchdown and somehow get this game it
feels like the whole thing could get
away from Dallas am I overstating that
no absolutely no you’re absolutely right
they had to win this football game you
lose this football game on the road
against a with a quote unquote inferior
team in the in the new York football
Giants boy all the Talking Heads would
have been screaming about the Dallas
Cowboys and sticking the fork in this in
this organization so again kudos to the
Cowboys going on the road getting a
divisional win let’s see how they react
moving forward look there’s a saying in
golf there’s no pictures on the
scorecard if you’re Dallas you don’t
care if it’s by five although some of
you might uh you just happy that you
moved to two and two the injury to
Parsons and and we don’t know anything
at this point he just left via cart with
the left shoe off
how do you assess what that man means to
that defense it’s a defense that’s
struggled but they’re clearly not better
if he’s not on the field oh I mean that
would be if he’s missing any significant
time that’ be a huge L he’s their best
he’s their best player on the defensive
side of the football he’s a one man
wrecking crew obviously we know the Dallas
Cow boys has been struggling primarily
because they have been playing from a
you know from ahead the Dallas Cowboys
are are best suited when they have a
lead and they can un unleash that pass
rush but if you don’t have have that guy
Michael Parsons that’s a huge blow for
that Dallas cup boys defense and if
there’s any news and we’re on until the
top of the hour we don’t know what kind
of definitive news you rarely get it in
that short of a window but if we have
any we’ll we’ll share it with you it’s
just wild to me the Giants script and
how closely it followed the game they
played here against Washington where
Washington kept settling for field goals
and they were actually able to make one
in the end and win in part because the
Giants had lost their kicker remember
and then and they weren’t able to kick a
field goal late there was a lot that was
involved that has nothing to do with
tonight other than the Giants inability
to score when they got in the red zone
that is a massive turnaround for a
Dallas team that had surrendered
touchdowns and nine out of 10 trips to
the red zone at least they have that to
build on defensively and that’s a unit
that had taken a lot of criticism were
they were they better there tonight yeah
absolutely I mean between the the red
zone and and not allowing touchdowns and
the rushing attack you know I figure the
Giants would at least attempt to really
try to pound this this Dallas Cowboys uh
defense because it’s a copycat League
yeah teams team after team after team
has just been gashing the the Cowboys
particularly in the middle of their
defense so you will figure that the
Giants would do the same so again kudos
to the to kudos to the Cowboys seem like
they were able to to you know to get
right as far as eliminating that that
Russian attack by the Giants let’s see
if they can parlay that into something
bigger moving down to to be fair the
Saints have the Ravens have uh
King Henry not the same and single tier
just not that type of back for the
Giants but they do have Malik neighbors
and this is a young man and we’re
watching this game and you and I are
both doing just what we’re doing right
here I mean he’s just got that thing
that when you see it you’re like
goodness gracious and we we we hope that
he’s okay he was not able to come back
after uh failing to secure that catch on
on a fourth down but what is it about
him that makes him one of those rare
talents it’s almost like he plays bigger
than his size the suddenness the speed
his ability to go up and just make those
acrobatic catches when this dude is a
one man show I just you know in the
Highlight you were showing that dude oh
yeah that little he hit him with the
like that that hazy he hit him with that
hazy out there on the football field but
this dude is electric man he is he is
literally uh catching the league by
storm and he is their giant he’s the
Giant’s primary weapon he is their only
weapon in my opinion and that’s the
thing Damian that’s so impressive to me
is is that they don’t have a wealth of
weapons on offense you know everyone is
going to try to stop him he’s wide
receiver one and he’s wearing one like
everyone like that’s the guy you got to
stop and there’s no stopping that guy at
the moment I just it’s been amazing he
he’s that rare guy that you hear a lot
about in Camp and then you see him four
games in and you see he’s a star he’s
absolutely a star they move him all over
the all across the formation and te you
know all we said with wide receivers
it’s kind of it’s easy to kind of try to
take those guys away but this dude the
elite wide receivers know how to get
open this dude since he Ste foot in the
National Football League just knows how
to get open yeah and they did not have
him for that last series again they went
for kind of an aggressive uh an
aggressive call at Fourth and six right
around Midfield not able to get that and
in the end it’s they settle for five
field goals and they end up falling
tonight by five a win in any kind of
manner absolutely I mean winning is
always a great thing especially on the
road road WIS are the best uh division
games you can add another layer to it so
yeah we feel great about what we
accomplish tonight but I think it’s you
know for the fourth week in a row we
realize that we have a lot of work to do
and you have any update yet on Micah I
do not and I haven’t made it to the
training room
yet Calvin Watkins Dallas M news what
was the difference tonight with Dak and
and CD getting
going I just think really as a whole um
you know as a just the whole team I mean
that’s really the first four quarter
game we’ve played I mean we’re you know
it was a complimentary football game you
know I you I wish we would have been
able to uh Drive the ball more uh
offensively I you know just felt like we
left our defense out there uh a bit much
you know that that long swing right
before the half and then you know they
came right back here in that first
driver in the third quarter so you know
I thought that was very challenging for
our defense and for them to continue the
fight but I think the biggest thing was
you know we were able to you know
frankly I feel like it’s the first game
I called um you know for four
quarters that’s the winning side of it
Ryan dabble now as the Giants fall to one
and three game from down there to the
end missed a couple opportunities to
advance the ball or keep drives going um
you know thought the quarterback played
well made a lot of good decisions throws
couldn’t get our run game going tried a
variety of runs give them credit they
did a good job of of you know shutting
down our Run game um you know
so that was huge um you know the big
play to to 88 but um again competitive
game give them a lot of credit uh tough
one and were there any common denominators
to to not getting across the go line or
not getting down there as much yeah
we’re 0 for two when we got down there
so again some of those were third down
conversions where we had some
opportunities to to get there I think we
punt it one time um so you know hit some
fourth Downs um but ultimately you know
we threw out the ball out there to W Del
on on the one and they made a good
tackle on them um you know had an
opportunity there on the right hand side
to keep the drive going you know I
thought you know big difference was we
we kind of controlled the game in the
passing game but we didn’t do enough in
the running game um you to give them
credit they you knew they were going to
get some of it fixed but we got to do a
better job than that was
there very small sample size this season
but it’s the sixth time that the Giants
have failed to score a touchdown in a
game started by Daniel Jones it’s
happened twice this year both were home
games week one against Minnesota and now
this one last five seasons only Zach
Wilson has led his team to no touchdowns
on more occasions that happened eight
times while he was with the Jets.”

Interesting as always from the team above.

Never a dull moment at the ESPN studios when big NFL game nights are involved.
