The NBA Season is underway and has kicked off and of course Stephen A. Smith and the team at ESPN are rather excited, to say the least.
One player today stands out already for Smith in particular.
Speaking on ESPN on Karl-Anthony Towns Smith enthused earlier a short time ago:
“Let’s get to it—this is exactly what the Knicks hoped for when they traded for Karl-Anthony Towns: 44 points, 13 rebounds, and a comeback win against the Miami Heat! What did you think of KAT’s performance?
Well, listen, we know what he can do offensively. He’s one of, if not the best shooting big men in basketball. He’s a catch-and-shoot player most of the time, which is extremely important. You saw it right there—this is exactly what we need, someone who can help spread the floor. Jalen Brunson will do his thing, but he needs support. And having someone who’s 6’10” and can pull up from three at 38%? That’s a huge help.
Now, Jaylen Brunson had a slow start, sure, but we’re not worried about him—he’ll be fine. I’m more concerned about some of the other players. They let go of Julius Randle, which is all right, but I really wish we could’ve kept Dante DiVincenzo. We’ll have to wait and see how McBride and the rest step up.
But Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson? They’ve got to be that one-two punch, and I believe they can be. And with Anunoby and Mikal Bridges as our defensive stalwarts, we’re going to be solid on defense.”
Passionate as always from the colorful Smith and ESPN team.
ESPN are the worldwide leader in sports for a reason — their ratings both on TV and online are simply way bigger than anyone.
They make all the others networks in Germany, the UK, Europe and anywhere in the world look tiny, Sky Sports included.
