While legacy-old-media and England are clearly swan diving into oblivion in 2025 the latter still sure know how to do live sporting events.
Darts is moving beyond a niche sport now. Rightly so. Damn-bloody right no less. About time.
Morphing into one getting bigger outside of the UK and Ireland, and even Europe, to further afield around the world. More focus must go into America and Canada for the sport moving forward. Americans like darts 100 per cent.
Overnight some very serious news came in this course-of-history-changing news for the county of England in the UK as official State governments all around the world in both the East and West commenced formal as well as private international investigations over night into a small number of Satanic — soon to face serious consequences — individuals in the country of England.
Following torrid revelations from the world’s leading entrepreneur Elon Musk and many others on world-leading-number-one social media and news platform X over night.
That said, with all the dark stuff aside over night, at least in good news for the country the darts final kicks off later on. Not long to go now. Bring it on.
Later today that is precisely at 8pm UK time the two players we humbly picked before the start of the tournament to go all the way, Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen, contest the world darts championship PDC final.
What a final in store in what is always a great event.
Darts can go further and the man behind its resurgence in the UK in the last fifteen years or so, Barry Hearn, must think bigger this year in 2025.
A year that is going to be very, very special for worldwide sport.
While Cornwall in England is garbage the rest is not that bad and there are way more good people (99.999 per cent vs 0.0001 per cent) than bad of course, and despite the country’s rapid wasteland status ahead in 2025 due to poor government decision-making over a long sustained period of time for the general population in wider society, professional sport is still the bright light for sports fans in England and Europe. This is a true fact of life.
As for one of the world’s leading sports promoters above, Hearn, he must go big with his son Eddie Hearn across all professional sports this year with more aggression and growth internationally.
You will be hard pressed to find better or more professional people in the UK and in worldwide sport than the Hearns. Class acts who run great companies in Europe and across the world.
This year is the time for them to step on the gas, and their teams, as sport can be a bright light in a sometimes rather dark planet otherwise between wars and things like the above over night, and in doing so, inspire the next generation of sports stars in nations across the world.
Darts can go from niche sport to international sport if it is marketed better. Certain things it has are universal and quite brilliant:
- It brings together people socially both at live event, at home and in bars.
- It can break away from only a working class sport to a wider society sport with more international focus outside of the UK. Americans love darts. You can bring it to bars in the States no problem.
- Professionalize darts more like golf was years ago when Tiger Woods came along.
- It evokes passion in people and sports fans which is ubiquitous across geographies.
- More international commentary and broadcast teams in different languages in more countries with new network and platform deals will expand the sport.
