Today the world of tennis and sport is reacting in their droves to tennis legend Nadal finally retiring after years of success and legendary triumphs.
The Spanish legend official confirmed the news he is retiring.
Speaking to the Tennis Channel Nadal said:
“Rafa, you’re retiring now, but your legacy begins today. The question is simple: How would you like to be remembered in the future?
Well, in English, I understand. I’ve said this before— the titles and numbers are there, so people probably know about them. But the way I’d like to be remembered most is as a good person from a small village in Mallorca. I was fortunate to have an uncle who was a tennis coach in my village when I was a very small kid, and I had a wonderful family that supported me every step of the way.
I’m just a kid who followed his dreams, worked as hard as possible, and ended up where I am today. At the end of the day, I know that many people work hard and try their best every single day, but I’m one of the lucky ones. Life gave me the chance to experience unforgettable moments because of tennis.
So, I just want to be remembered as a good person and as a kid who followed his dreams and achieved more than I ever imagined.”
